20 miles north of Derby and 3 miles south of Matlock. 10 miles west of Junction 28 of the M1

The access via Hearthstone Farm can get very muddy in winter and the access from Littlemoor Lane (the New Road) is to be preferred, though it is sufficiently steep at the bottom end that some front-wheel drive cars will struggle if there are wet leaves on the ground.

There is a 10 mph speed limit on all the farm tracks. They are not suitable for the largest kind of lorries in view of width limitations, gradient, and overhanging trees.
