An ordinary old farmstead

Proposed Wind Turbine

On 26 October 2009 Edward submitted a second planning application for a wind turbine.

Edward tried to have planning approval not restricted to make and model, but defined as:
Hub height up to 25m;
Blade diameter up to 15m;
Power rating up to 20 kW.

However, Derbyshire Dales District Council would only accept the planning application based on a specific make and model of wind turbine, since the different types are not identical. So, under mild protest, Edward changed the application to a standard Proven 15 wind turbine (which has a blade diameter of about 10m) on a 15m mast.

This second planning application located the wind turbine in the “Electricity Pole Field” west of the farmstead, which is a much less prominent site than the original proposed site on the ridge, but where it would also generate much less clean electricity!

UPDATE:
Planning permission has been granted (!) for the turbine in the revised location! We are now considering economic viability and will be updating this again soon.
